A series of short motorway closures will take place in May and June to allow vital work to the region's electricity network to be carried out.
High voltage overhead cables stretching across the M6 and M55 are being replaced as part of a National Grid scheme to renew 65 kilometres of power lines in the north west.

However the roads will have to be briefly closed to traffic so that the work can be carried out in safety.

The closures will affect Junctions one to three of the M55 and Junctions 32 to 34 of the M6 between May 11 and June 26.

The closures will only last for a matter of minutes and are being timed to cause a minimum disruption to traffic.
