A MOTORCYCLIST who died following a collision with a car in Morecambe has been named.
George Allott, 46, of Slyne, died after his white Honda motorbike collided with a black Vauxhall Vectra in Mellishaw Lane on Tuesday afternoon.

He was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary but died shortly afterwards.

Paramedics were assiste
d at the scene by an off-duty district nurse, who had been travelling in her car behind the accident.

A woman and two teenage girls were travelling in the car involed in the collision. They were all taken to the RLI but had no serious injuries.
Mellishaw Lane was closed between the Wickes roundabout and White Lund Road for three-and-a-half hours while accident investigation officers were at the scene.

Sgt Nigel Ralphson, senior investigating officer, said: "This is a very serious road traffic collision and I would appeal for anyone who has any information to come forward and contact us.

"I am particularly keen to speak to a man in his 50s wearing glasses who stopped at the scene and spoke to staff at the VW garage. His information could be very important."

Anyone with any information about the accident, which happened near the Volkswagen garage just after 5pm, is asked to contact Lancaster police on 01524 63333.
