A LORRY spilt its load of soft drinks onto the M6 this morning, Thursday, causing tailbacks for several hours.
The accident happened on the southbound carriageway of the motorway, close to Burton Services.

The collision occurred just after 8am and involved an HGV carrying soft drinks which collided with the central barrier and ended up on its side.

A second HGV had to take evasive action and a car was involved in the collision. Nobody was injured.

A lane on the southbound carriageway and two lanes northbound were closed for several hours while the scene was cleared. Tailbacks queued back as far as Carnforth immediately after the accident.

Meanwhile, a lorry travelling through Torrisholme also shed its load on Thursday morning.

The red DAF tipper truck was travelling along Lancaster Road when it spilled mud across the road.

The road did not have to be closed following the incident, which happened just after 9am.
