A GRAFFITI artist was busy at work in Lancaster last week.
These two 'artworks' appeared on the side of Lancaster Royal Grammar School and on premises in King Street. Last month graffiti was daubed on the side of a shop just off Ullswater Road, Freehold.

We're interested in finding out who the graffiti artist is for a possible feature in the paper.

Before all the whingers start i would agree that whilst Graffiti can be unsightly, if of poor quality, it is also a valid art form to others. We only have to look up the legendary 'Banksy' who's work is now upheld in areas where he paints and councils refuse to paint over his pieces. Even increasing the value of the properties he 'performs' on.

Every town should have a location (wall) where graffiti should be made legal. Maybe a little encouragement from Lancaster council and we could see our very own 'Banksy' in a few years.

These are great!! Fairplay to the artist he/she has got to be admired for the sheer guts of the locations. P.S. Notice you haven't spotted the work of art next to the railway line a bit further down from the university! Keep up the good work!!

Couldn't agree more re the comments about the amazing Banksy, a true street artist. Skilled, political and incredibly powerful, his work is to be celebrated.
However, this stuff is just kak. Some divvy in a baseball cap playing at being some kind of urban warrior. D'uh. Clean it up you berk.

They're just ugly "tags", what's so special about that? I think he also painted the side of the bridge across the canal near the Ridge.

Banksy - awesome!

This "artist" nowhere near! Is Lancaster really this desperate to have it's own Banksy?? Sure, they are far more artistic and talented than me in this field, but certainly no Banksy!

If this expression is art, why didnt the artist begin by exhibiting on the exterior walls of their own home, before deciding to inflict their atristic taste on others property? The fact that the art is unsightly to many people, costs money to remove and involves dangerous clambering on rooves seems to have been missed by the perpetrator. If the artist is found on the pavement after plummeting from a second storey 'canvas'...would this be performance art?

Before we condemn the artist for the lack of quality of their work, we should first commend the efforts of who is presumably a seven-year-old child in scaling what must be a 25-foot building!

That must equate to an elephant climbing the Angel Of The North without crampons? Anyway, I'm getting off topic.

We should remember that, after ascending the steep and treacherous face of this historical building, the artist must have been so ravaged by the effects of exhaustion, that they were totally unable to produce anything of artist merit. At all. As any pro climber will tell you, the air thins the further up you go. And this grafitti artist must have replaced all of the available oxygen with aerosol propellant. Sadly, the wild and colourful hallucination he must have experienced never made it onto any of the walls he tagged.

So, please spare a thought for your local tagger.
