A TAXI driver gave chase after a bag-snatch on Skerton Bridge last night.
A 48-year-old Ridge woman was crossing the bridge at 10.15pm when she was approached from behind by a white male who snatched her black leather handbag.

The passing taxi driver jumped out of his cab and chased the man, who fled in the opposite direction.

But he got into what was believed to be a silver Vauxhall Vectra and drove off at speed in the direction of the Kingsway flats.

The bag, valued at £10, contained a black leather purse worth £5 with £50 cash inside.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, should contact police on 01524 63333 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
