A 25-YEAR-OLD Lancaster man died when the car he was driving careered off the M6.
Sean Murphy was killed when the white Honda Civic left the northbound carriageway and smashed into a fence and trees between junction 32 and the Lancaster services near Catterall.

He was released by firefighters following the smash at 4.40am on Su
nday, which left the car on its roof, but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two female passengers – including Sean's fiancee – suffered minor injuries and were taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

The northbound carriageway was closed for three hours following the incident.

Sean lived with his fiancee in Morecambe but previously lived at the family home in Barley Cop Lane, Lancaster, with parents Peter and Deborah and brother Damien.

Shocked neighbours there said he had been a pleasant man who was always full of life.

Staff at Carpetright are also mourning their friend and colleague. Sean worked at the Lancaster store in Common Garden Street before moving to the Morecambe branch at White Lund last year. A keen Manchester United fan, Sean was studying music at Preston College.

* Witnesses to the accident should contact police on 08451 253545 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
