LOCAL rivalries will come to the fore once again after the Shrimps have announced a friendly with Lancaster City.
The game will take place at Giant Axe on Tuesday, July 29, with kick off at 7.45pm. The two sides used to meet regularly in pre-season games until a few years ago with the games always hotly contested.

n Lancaster City Youth U9s are going from strength to strength having already won the U10s Lune & District Tournament & the Heathwaite tournament this season they have added to their impressive trophy collection with a win at Blackpool in the Staining tournament.

The teams were of a very high standard with one of the U9s sides having the Manchester United legend Paul Scholes son in their squad.

Lancaster were unstoppable with them completing a fantastic group winning performance that saw them win 5 and draw 2. The U9s didn't concede a single goal all day a considerable performance considering the opposition.

Its not the first time this season the Lancaster boys had managed to top a group at a tournament having come top in the group stages in the Fleetwood Gym u9s tournament by winning all 5 games followed by winning the quarter finals 3 – 0 only then to be hampered by an injury and some tired legs which undeservedly saw them go out in a penalty shootout the semis.

Only one goal conceded in two tournaments shows just how good this team is.

Team Lewis Kitchen, Jacob Croasdale, Alex Bethell (Captain), Joseph Macari, Regan Coates, Cameron Porter, Laurie Atkinson, Robbie Whitfield, Alex Green & Charlie Cottam Manager Paul Kitchen Assistant Manager Duncan Bethell.
