A LANCASTER company has signed a record sponsorship deal to have their name on Morecambe FC's shirts next season.
Dalton Square business mopay.co.uk have agreed a one-year deal, with the option of another two, with the Shrimps. The company, who replace Jiang Print, employ 40 people in CityLab and recycle mobile phones.
Craig Smith is operations director at ShP solutions, of which mopay is a part, and he expressed his excitement at the deal, the biggest the company has done.

He said: "I have always kept an eye on Morecambe and now I am looking forward to getting more involved next season.

"For us it is not just about writing a cheque, it is about getting involved as much as possible."

Craig has lived in Morecambe since the age of four and will be foregoing his season ticket at Manchester City from next season in favour of the Shrimps.

mopay.co.uk already have an advertising board at Christie Park and a programme advert.

This was a great opportunity for the company, said marketing manager Chris Rogerson.

"This season has been fantastic and hopefully next year will be even better," he said.

He revealed that the company would work with the Shrimps to generate funds, both for charity and for the club's Football in the Community work.

mopay.co.uk has been in operation since 2005 and is a major player in the mobile phone recycling market. Their website was the first of its kind in the world.

Morecambe chief executive Rod Taylor said: "We would love the deal to be extended and it is up to us to work together," he said.

n THERE will be a Family Fun Day at Christie Park this Saturday, from 12.30-2.30pm before the game with Lincoln.

There will be a host of activities for all the family and popular mascot Christie the Cat will be facing penalties at half-time.

The mascot will also line up in the Mascot Gold Cup at Wetherby racecourse on Sunday.
