LANCASTER'S Lucy Hilton has been selected for the North of England Under 21 Ladies Hockey Team to play in two games against the Wales National team this weekend at the Wales Institute of Sport in Cardiff.
She has made it through a tough selection procedure starting with the best of the North county teams and gaining her place in the final squad.
Lucy, 19, an ex-pupil of Lancaster Girls' Grammar School, played for Lancaster Ladies Hockey Club from the age of 13, playing in the first team from the age of 15 and has also been a member of the Lancashire Schools teams.
She is studying at Liverpool John Moores University for a degree in Physical Education teaching and has played for Liverpool Sefton Ladies Hockey Club this season.
Katie Benter of Lancaster Ladies Hockey Club is delighted with the news of Lucy's selection.
"I coached Lucy at club level and at county level and was always impressed by her work ethic and eagerness to develop and improve her skill level," she said.
