* ONE of the country's most popular comic poets, John Hegley, returns to the Lancaster stage this weekend.
Hegley brings The Adventures of Monsieur Robinet to The Dukes on Sunday at 8pm.
The show features Hegley's signature tales, this time referring to a Frenchman with some unusual (but clean) habits. The stories include other new works, including an address to aliens on the subject of transport, a poem about a non-talking parrot and some animal impersonations with the aid of a handkerchief.
John Hegley is a regular sell-out at The Edinburgh Festival and has several best-selling volumes of poetry to his name.
Tickets for the show cost £12 and £10 (concessions). To book, call The Dukes box office on 01524 598500 or see www.dukes-lancaster.org
* DAVID Dickinson's Real Deal is heading to Lancaster!
The TV presenter and antique expert is coming to Lancaster's Salt Ayre Sports Centre tomorrow, Saturday, to film his show.
Why let your antiques collect dust in the attic when you can sell them? Take money on the spot from a dealer– or if you think the item's worth more, turn the dealer down and choose to sell at auction.
If you want to sell your goods, go along to Salt Ayre between 9am and 5pm.
As usual, host David will keep an eye on the deals and give his advice. Admission is free.
* TICKETS have just sold out for Julian Clary's first mince into Lancaster. This most camp of comedians brings his Lord of the Mince tour to the Grand Theatre on Thursday.
Clary describes the show as an intimate evening, "a celebration of my twenty-five years in the camp spotlight: how I got there and why I refuse to leave."
But don't despair. If you didn't manage to get tickets, the comic is also appearing at Blackpool's Grand Theatre on February 19. For tickets ring 01253 290190.
* UNIQUE and unseen footage of Morecambe will be shown at a special event on Thursday.
The North West Film Archive joins Morecambe Bay Movie Makers to celebrate their 40th anniversary of film making at the event at Morecambe's The Dome.
The earliest known film of Morecambe in 1901 will be screened alongside football at Christie Park and the opening of the new baths in 1935, Heysham Head in the 1930s, Morecambe seafront, the opening of the Central Pier in 1930, Pontin's Holiday Camp and Marineland in 1968.
There'll also be footage of the visit of HM the Queen in 1955 and unveiling the Eric Morecambe statue in 1999.
The footage will be shown with a piano accompaniment and will be presented by Chris Abram.
The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £4 in advance or £5 on the door.
*Advance tickets are available from the box office on 01524 582803.
Alternatively, pop into the Visitor Information Centres in Lancaster and Morecambe.
