THE latest comedy club to come to Lancaster opens its doors over the Bank Holiday weekend to prove that the city really is game for a laugh.
Four top northern comedy club acts including Dominic Woodward and Mel Moon will be on stage at the LAone Bar on May 25 as the club hosts the Mirth Control Comedy Night.

Others performing on stage are MC John Cooper and duo Rob and Skatz.

Woodward has quickly risen to a regular performer on the professional stand-up circuit and is always in demand.

He has performed live on BBC 2 and ITV and was a regular in MEN@Work The Comedy Store's topical show in Manchester.

Mel Moon burst onto the comedy scene in August 2007.

Combining subtle humour with the downright ridiculous as well as well crafted songs, she covers topics from equine dentists to Richard and Judy with ease and intelligence.

Within her first six months she came runner-up in the Carlsberg comedy crown and is a current semi-finalist in Laughing Horse New Acts Competition.

Rising from open-spots to headliners in just a year, renowned award-winning performer Rob Gee and highly respected musician Skatz have pooled their collective writing and musical talents with a killer set of songs on the seedy side of life.

Still relatively new to the comedy circuit, but experienced performers in their own right, Rob and Skatz have an original upbeat set that is clever, fast and funny.

Craig Rawcliffe from LAone said: "Comedy clubs are becoming increasingly popular and we wanted to put on affordable, fun evening for the Bank Holiday. The four acts are reallt well known on the circuit and are highly recommended."

Tickets for the evening cost just £5 with pre-bought tickets from the bar including a voucher for a free drink on entry. For details contact LAone on 01524 66847.

The fun starts at 8.15pm.
