INTERNATIONALLY renowned guitarist John Mills is to perform an evening of music celebrating South American composers at the Ashton Memorial on May 31 at 7.30pm.
The talented classical musician took up the guitar aged nine, initially teaching himself for several years before studying at London's Spanish Guitar Centre and the Royal College of Music. In 1968 as a recipient of a Spanish Government scholarship, he travelled to Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain where he performed in the master classes
conducted by the legendary Andres Segovia.

In 1970, John Mills then played for Julian Bream in master classes at the University of Warwick. He played at London's Wigmore Hall in 1971, having already taken part in concerts as a guest artist at the Purcell Room and The Queen Elizabeth Hall, in fact the first guitarist to perform there.

His overseas touring has taken him to Canada, Scandinavia, the USA, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand. John Mills also appeared in radio programmes for both Radio Three and Radio Two, and has made numerous TV appearances, notably on The Harry Secombe Show.

To book tickets for an evening of magnificent music in the grand surroundings of the Ashton Memorial call 01524 33318.

* Tickets are on sale now and cost £7 for adults, £6 concessions.
