LANCASTER Library has announced a festive summer of gigs featuring some of the hottest tipped bands in the UK.
First to play tomorrow, Saturday, will be Dawn Kinnard who recently wowed the Later with Jools Holland TV audience with her smoky voiced indie blues and soul.
Her album The Courtesy Fall has just been released to mass critical acclaim.
The gig was also featured in the Sunday Times as an event not to be missed.
This show, which also features Doug Walker, is followed by cult indie band iLiKETRAiNS on Monday.
May 12 sees new Virgin signings Royworld play the intimate venue.
The band has just completed a whole UK tour of libraries under the Get It Loud in Libraries banner.
Their gig is followed by hot folk rock collective Noah and The Whale on May 23.
But it is June 7 when the library really leaves its pop calling card with mega-hyped but super talented Florida alt-popsters Black Kids.
The excellent reggae pop singer songwriter Natty, again a Jools Holland performer, takes to the stage a week later on the June 14.
Stewart Parsons, project founder and senior librarian, said: "It's wonderful for libraries to use their space in such a thrilling way. We are really looking forward to the bands and the new audiences they attract. Fans come from far and wide specifically to see their favourite bands in unique venues."
Lancashire County Council's award-winning project Get It Loud in Libraries is designed to change perceptions about the cultural potential and direction of libraries.
Bands to have already played at Lancaster Library include Bat For Lashes, Adele, The Wombats, The Long Blondes and The Thrills.
