AROUND 5000 visitors poured into Glasson Dock for the annual Maritime Weekend over the Easter Bank Holiday.
This year marked the 20th anniversary of the festival and despite a little inclement weather all events went ahead as planned.

Visitors arrived from all over the UK and across the continent to fill accommodation in the area and get into the spirit of life on the high seas.

The biggest draw were performances of sea songs and shanties in the village hall.

Punch and Judy shows, knot tying, nautical dramas and other events brought a welcoming family atmosphere.

Crowds and organisers saw every kind of weather over the weekend including rain, wind, snow and hail and a little bit of sunshine.

All events did manage to go ahead, but the RSPB did not attend as planned due to the poor conditions. Similarly the Brocklebank tug could not attend due to the poor conditions at sea.
