It was extended to a week to allow competitors from Cumbria, East Lancashire and Merseyside to take part. Their half-term break was held at a different time to children in North Lancashire.

In addition to the traditional classes such as classical ballet, Greek, character and tap, two new lyrical modern sections were added. Olivia Pewsey from Caton won the junior section and Holly Johnstone from Lancaster, the seniors.

The festival ends tomorrow night with a heat of the Miss Dance competition.
