IT was great to see The Dome almost sold out on Saturday night.
The crowd had come to enjoy themselves and that's exactly what they did.
With a warm up man followed by a glamorous singer, the audience were appreciative from the start but it was evident it was Freddie they were there to see.
As he walked on to the stage following the interval he got a rousing round of applause.
He sang, told a few jokes and did some physical comedy. The majority of the crowd were obviously big fans and the controversial comic only had to raise an eyebrow to get a laugh.
He had them in the palm of his hand from start to finish of his 70-minute set.
He ended with an Elvis song which went down well with his audience.
Then he left the stage to loud calls for an encore. The audience went silent for a minute expecting a swift return. Nothing. More applause and calls for an encore, but Freddie was nowhere to be seen.
Never have I witnessed a crowd so happy one moment and deflated the next.
By depriving his fans of a five minute encore on Saturday night, he may have just lost a few of them.
