Judging by the reaction to the first comedy night held at the Borough on Sunday it's going to turn into a regular event.
Compered by the engaging Rob Riley, he faced the 100 strong audience admitting that the first gig in a new venue can sometimes be difficult.

The only real difficulty was one particular heckler who continued to shout out boring comments throughout the entire two and a half hour set. By the end of the night every time he heckled, the rest of the audience booed and heckled him back.

There were three comics, but the highlight was very definitely Simon Donald, co founder of Viz magazine. He pretended to be a market research operative from Newcastle and proceeded to ask the audience a series of questions which were absolutely hilarious. He played up the stereotype of Geordie girls and boys out on the pull and asked suitably inappropriate questions....

The event was a sell-out with tickets costing £6 in advance and a couple of pounds extra on the door.

It went down so well the pub in Dalton Square is now hoping to turn it into a monthly comedy session.

Their next event is on Sunday, June 21 - Rob Riley will compere again and Ian Cognito will headline.

Tickets are bound to go quick so it's worth popping into the pub in the next day or two if you fancy it.
