Morris been hasty
DAVID Morris claims to have an interest in the amenities of the countryside of his constituency, and opposes wind turbines.
Yet he proposes to support a scheme which involves tearing out large swathes of that countryside, adding to the immediate air and noise pollution within yards of people's housing; obliging several families to give up their homes to make way for the link road to Heysham, and doing nothing to solve serious traffic problems in Lancaster.
If he had given himself more time to really get to know more about his constituency after becoming an MP, he would have gained a more rounded picture of the interests of his constituents.
There are many who do not find the wind turbines offensive (on the contrary they actually like them) and who are glad that they can make a definite contribution to a more responsible society.
Equally there are many constituents with very serious doubts about the link road, but whose views Mr Morris does not seem to have listened to as willingly, if indeed at all, as he has to the restricted views of purely business interests with no concern for the countryside.
Can we hope that Mr Morris will have the grace to acknowledge he has been over hasty and take the time and trouble to find out more about the concerns of all the people he has been elected to represent?
