Our Lady’s Catholic College annual prizegiving event was held at the Lancaster Cathedral and as always was a celebration of the students’ outstanding achievements.

This year saw more than a hundred students receiving recognition for their exceptional attainment, hard work and progress.

The cathedral was full of proud parents and relatives as well as students and staff and they were delighted that many dignitaries including the mayor, Councillor Sheila Denwood were able to join them for the evening.

Mrs Alice Robinson, President of the ATL and former assistant headteacher at Our Lady’s shared an analogy based on the childhood favourite toy, Lego.

She explained that everyone is the master of their own fate and that pupils can acquire many skills and areas of knowledge from their education but like the lego blocks can be fashioned into many different objects, how that learning is used to build a future life and career is ultimately up to each individual.

Just as with the lego build she added, the richness of that creation is limited only by imagination, ambition and industry.
