Ofsted success
Lancaster & Morecambe College students celebrate the new Ofsted report.
A year of successes for Lancaster & Morecambe College has culminated in an impressive Ofsted report.
2012 has seen successful bids for funding and the development of the new buildings.
The year ended on a high with a December inspection by Ofsted, who have graded the college with a ‘good’ rating.
Stuart Rimmer, director of quality and enterprise, said: “We are extremely pleased that the inspectors really got a sense of what LMC is about – providing great support for students, an outstanding student experience and real skills for the real world. However, none of this would be possible without the support of our great community.
“Students, parents, staff, partner organisations and employers have all made a contribution to this brilliant result and we would like to thank them all for their support.”
The findings from the report focused on a number of different areas including Outcomes for Learners, Quality of teaching, learning and assessment and effectiveness of leadership and management.
All these aspects were graded as ‘good’.
Inspectors found that “the college is characterised by a culture of valuing and supporting all learners equally” and that “learners enjoy coming to college”.
David Wood, principal and chief executive of the college, said: “As a vocational college our provision is about ensuring that students are ready for the world of work when they leave here, and our links with employers and partner organisations are a vital part of that provision.”
