A £10,000 chair – the only one of its kind in the country – is the latest gadget on offer at a Lune Valley home technology showroom.
The special DBox chair, is on show at The Majik House at Kirkby Lonsdale Business Park for one month only.

It is used in conjunction with a special PC and games and can be used as a racing chair – re-creating every jolt and manoeuvre as you drive – or as a flight simulator.

Only one of the chairs has so far been sold in the UK. It was bought from the Harrods department store in London and delivered to a customer's palace in Dubai.

The chair at The Majik House is a prototype loaned to the company by London-based Pulse Marketing. But managing director Tim Burrow said he could order the gadget on demand.

"There's been a couple of people interested and I think we might sell one or two before Christmas," he said.

For those who do not have a spare £10,000, The Majik House is giving visitors the chance to test out the chair by playing a Formula One driving game during a series of open weekends this month.

The competitor with the best driving times will win a home cinema projector, while there is a special edition portable radio for the runner-up. Mr Burrow said: "We've had about 10 people in over the first two weekends and there's been some good times recorded. I can't get anywhere near them.

"This is the nearest you'll get to driving an actual Formula One car. It's really awesome."

* The Majik House is open from 10am to 4pm this Saturday and Sunday, and between the same times next weekend.
