1. What is your earliest recollection?
Going to see Pinocchio at the cinema and having the light from the projection box pointed out to me. I was only four-years-old and I still remember the amazement I felt at the thought that the picture was made
from light thrown across such a big room.
2. What was your first job?
Working at the Glasgow Film Theatre as an undergraduate student while I was studying film and television.
3. Happiest memory?
Sitting in the garden of the house I grew up in when I was 15. I grew up in a small village on the west coast of Scotland. I don't think it gets much better than the Lochgoilhead glen on a sunny day.
4. Biggest regret?
Not learning another language – hopefully something I can change.
5. Favourite song or artist?
I don't really like being pinned down to one. Beethoven's 9th Symphony and The Beatles' Here Comes the Sun?
6. Most-thumbed book?
The Party's Over by Richard Heinberg.
7. Website most often visited?
It's a toss up between the national Guardian online and Launching films.com
8. Best-loved food?
Orange juice and mayonnaise – but not necessarily at the same time.
9. What's your tipple?
It depends where I am and what mood I'm in – the Borough does a good Wainwright just now.
10. What's your must-watch TV programme?
Spaced – it's a good few years old but it just gets better.
11. A film not to be missed?
Anything that gets programmed at the Dukes of course! Baz Lurhman's Romeo and Juliet – the man is a genius for that film.
12. Top holiday destination?
Scotland – all my friends are in Glasgow and the best scenery in the world is only 40 minutes beyond that in Loch Lomond.
13. Which football team's result do you look for first?
Celtic and Liverpool.
14. Favourite car?
There aren't enough electric cars on the market for me to take any interest in them yet.
15. Pet, past or present?
Florix – A cat I had when I was a child.
16. Favourite perfume or aftershave?
CKOne.
17. Which personality would you most like to meet?
Nelson Mandela or Barack Obama.
18. Biggest influence on your life so far?
Frazer Shaw – a teacher I had in secondary school. He had respect for and from every student in every class.
19. What difference would a lottery win make to you?
I don't know, give me a winning ticket and we'll find out.
20. What would be your dream job?
Lecturing and researching in an environmental sciences department at
a university in a hot sunny country.
