1. What is your earliest recollection?
I clearly remember my mother walking for ages to find a favourite cuddly toy I had dropped from my pushchair.
2. What was your first job?
My first holiday job as a teenager was packing boxes in a raincoat
factory in Manchester. My first full time job was in an insurance office, again in Manchester.
3. Happiest memory?
Watching my two sons grow up and marry wonderful people.
4. Biggest regret?
The older I get, the less significant regrets become. I think it is better to look forward, be positive and make the most of life.
5. Favourite song or artist?
I'd have to say that Bob Dylan is probably the most influential
songwriter of my lifetime.
6. Most-thumbed book?
The book I've revisited most is Early One Morning by Robert Ryan, a World War Two espionage novel drawing heavily upon fact, the
central character being William Grover Williams, the winner of the very first Monaco Grand Prix.
7. Web site most often visited?
ITV-F1.com - I'm a massive Formula One fan.
8. Best-loved food?
No particular favourite, but preferably eaten in my favourite Lancaster restaurants – The Borough, Quite Simply French, Bistro 26, The Gatehouse or Etna.
9. What's your tipple?
Red wine is my 'downfall', with a particular liking for Spanish wine.
10. What's your must-watch TV programme?
This is so sad...and how many people that I know are going to read this? Here goes – I never miss Neighbours (there, I've said it!).
11. A film not to be missed?
Truthfully I'm not a big film fan, but every time I go to a wedding I have to stifle the giggles when I think of Rowan Atkinson in Four Weddings and a Funeral. 'The Holy Goat!', 'My Awful Wedded Wife!' – you get the picture?
12. Top holiday destination?
Puerto Pollensa in Mallorca.
13. Which football team's result do you look for first on Saturday?
Blackburn Rovers – largely because my son Andrew is a big fan. I should have said Lancaster City, because my company is a sponsor, or Morecambe FC, because I think what they have achieved in their first year in the league is amazing.
14. Favourite car?
The Ferrari 275 GTB/4. I could never afford one but I am beginning to wonder if I could stretch to a Jaguar E-Type (2nd favourite).
15. Pet, past or present?
Digger, an Alsatian/collie cross, the gentlest, most warm-hearted family pet you could hope for. I'll never own another dog because he was simply irreplaceable.
16. Favourite perfume or aftershave?
Currently Paco Rabanne or Polo Black.
17. Which personality would you most like to meet?
As a motorsport fan that's easy. Sir Stirling Moss.
18. Biggest influence on your life so far?
Will always be my father, now 84 and blind, but still making the most of life without regret or complaint.
19. What difference would a lottery win make to you?
Being selfish, I'd use it to fund a secure retirement. Being practical, I'd like to help my son Alex buy a house – he lives in London and it's so tough now for first time buyers. If I could afford to, I'd give the lot to CancerCare, in this their 25th anniversary year.
20. What would be your dream job?
Being realistic I already have it. I own a successful company, work with absolutely brilliant and talented people, and have customers who are a pleasure to work for.
