An elderly woman was pushed against some railings and had her handbag stolen during an attack in a Settle street on Sunday.
The 81-year-old lady, from Settle, was walking up Constitution Hill at 7.55pm when she was approached by a man coming the opposite way who tried to snatch her handbag.

She tried to fend him off but the man, described as being tall and thin with a
black hooded top, pushed her back against some railings and grabbed her bag before running off towards the Market Place.

The black leather handbag, which had two small red and yellow-amber flowers embroidered onto it, contained loose change, a painted candle and the pensioner's prayer book. She was unhurt but badly shaken from the ordeal. Police are now appealing for witnesses to the robbery, and would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the man prior to the attack, or afterwards in the Market Place.

Matt Walker, from Skipton CID said: "This is a horrible attack on an elderly vulnerable lady. We are really keen to bring this offender to justice and we would ask for the public's help in tracking him."

Anyone with information should call North Yorkshire police on 0845 6060247, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
