Lancaster police warn of street scam
POLICE in Lancaster are warning residents not to be taken in by some confidence tricksters.
The warning comes after two women reportedly gave money to a girl who was pretending to need cash to get a train home to Barrow
PC Mark Finch, the Community Beat Manager for the city's Castle ward, says the women felt sorry for the girl after she approached them close to the train station.
He said: "A girl in her early teens has approached two ladies and asked them for cash to get home. We believe she was acting in company with another couple in their early 30s who have also come along at a similar time and shown sympathy.
"It is an unusual problem in this area and not something we have to deal with very often but our advice is to ignore any requests for cash from strangers on the street.''
